The muffler in the picture (photo) is presented on social networks as a production of the Cotonnière industrielle du Cameroun (Cicam), the only textile company in the Cemac zone, as part of the fight against coronavirus. “I learn that this piece of fabric is the muffler produced by Cicam on public funding. This state company announced today that this piece of cloth will cost 1300 FCFA to its purchasers”, one can read on social networks.Only, contradictory versions questioned the paternity of these masks to Cicam. Among these versions, there is that of this senior executive of the public administration who declares: “Cicam only makes available to the manufacturers the immaculate white fabric which is appropriate for the masks. Other fabrics already colored with chemicals are strongly discouraged because of the toxicity of the dyes.
Verdict: Ce masque de protection est fabriqué par Cicam
Il s’agit effectivement d’une production Cicam. Les sources contactées au sein de cette entreprise confirment. « Oui, c’est nous qui fabriquons ça », renseigne un employé. Sur la page Facebook de la société, l’information est confirmée ce 7 mai : « Masque Cicam, lavable, 100% coton, disponible dans nos points de vente Laking et Ecotex au prix de 1300 francs CFA ».
L’entreprise ajoute : « il faut préciser que c’est lavable 15 fois ce qui revient à 86 FCFA le masque et qu’il respecte toutes les normes édictées par l’OMS contrairement à ce que les autres vendent à 500 FCFA ».
Cicam recommande de prévoir plusieurs lots de masques pour les changer très régulièrement dans la journée sans oublier de respecter toutes les mesures d’hygiène recommandées (lavage de mains, etc.). Ne plus toucher son masque une fois mis au visage.
